How to play Huedle — the daily colour gradient puzzle

HOW IT WORKS

A fresh board every day

Every day has its own unique puzzle. The date is used as a seed, and that single seed generates everything about the board. That means everyone playing on the same day gets the exact same puzzle to solve, and you can always come back to an old day and find it unchanged.

The palette

The seed picks a random colour palette and blends it into a smooth gradient that flows across the whole board. Two diagonally opposite corners hold the start and end colours; every other tile is a step somewhere in between.

Layout & grid size

The seed also decides the grid's dimensions, anywhere from a gentle 4×4 up to a busy 8×8 and all variations in between, it then shuffles every tile into a scrambled starting layout. More tiles means more colours to read and more moves to untangle.

Difficulty

Each board is rated Easy, Medium or Hard based on how many tiles it has. A small 4×4 is Easy; a packed 8×8 is Hard. You'll see the rating on the board and in the Archive.

Locked corners

The two opposite corners are locked in place and can't be moved. They anchor the gradient by defining its start and end colours, everything else has to blend between them.

Drag to swap

Drag any tile onto another to swap their two positions. Keep swapping until each colour sits in the cell where it belongs and the gradient reads cleanly from corner to corner.

Correct placements lock in

When a tile lands in its correct home it pulses, chimes, and shows a small dot to confirm it. Correctly placed tiles lock so you won't accidentally move them again as you work.

Winning

There's no losing; once every tile is home, the gradient is complete. The only things that matter are your time and your move count, so aim to finish fast and clean.
